My name is Briah Smith, and I'm a Bahamian-American filmmaker and student based in Orlando, where I'm receiving my B.A. in Film from the University of Central Florida.
I am a hardworking and dedicated student with 4+ years of experience in filmmaking, where I specialized as a Producer, 1st AD, Photographer, Director, Writer, and DP. I'm an excellent communicator and team player, organized and detail-oriented.
In 2023, I wrote and directed my first film, Dollhouse, which is a coming-of-age comedy drama that follows a young woman who struggles to come out to her parents. This film is currently in post-production with plans to submit to film festivals.
Dollhouse explores what struggles many people in the LGBTQ+ community face today, whether it be with family, friends, identity, or simply love.
I am constantly seeking new and challenging projects that allow me to push the boundaries of visual storytelling and connect with audiences. I am comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and am able to work effectively with a team as well as independently.
I have experience with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Lightroom. I am also well versed in Google Platforms (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
Many of the films that I've had the chance to work on have been screened at various film festivals, such as the Florida Film Festival, the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, and the Central Florida Film Slam.
I have future plans to move to California to receive my MFA in Directing, and I'm seeking a career in Producing, Screenwriting, and Directing.
My ultimate goal is to tell personal stories that resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impact.
Thank you for checking out my website, and I hope that you enjoy my work!
